A rectangular field is of the size 30 m × 20m. Two paths run parallel to the sides of the rectangle through the centre of the field. The width of the larger and shorter path are 3 m and 2 m respectively. Find the area of the path. Also, find the area of remaining portion of the field.​

area of the rectangular field = L×B

=30 ×20

=600

area of the path = 3× 20

=60

area of the path = 2×30

= 60

area of the common part on the path = 3×2

= 6

area of full path = 60+ 60 - 6= 120-6 = 114

area of remaining portion = 600-114

= 486 square metre

area of shorter path =l*b

=30*3

=90m^2

area of longer path = l*b

=30*2

=60m^2

remaning area=area of rectangle-area of path

=600-150

= 450m^2
