1- Why schottkey defects are predominant in NaCl and Frenklin defects in AgCl despite having same structure ??

2-Why Ag+ in AgCl gets displaced into the interstitial site ??

Answer:

schottkey defects are shown in compounds having similar size of cations and anions

eg NaCl

Frenkel defects are shown by compounds in which the cations size is much smaller than the size of the anions

eg AgCl( Ag+ gets displaced into the interstitial site due to its small size)
