Triple fusion: The fusion of second male gamete released into the embryosac with diploid secondary nucleus.

  • Syngamy: The fusion of one of the male gametes released into the embryosac with the egg cell is syngamy.

Therefore, Syngamy+ Triple fusion= Double fertilisation.

Here's your answer!

Syngamy : One of the male gametes moves towards the egg and fuses with it's nucleus. This results in the formation of a diploid cell, zygote.

Triple Fusion : The other gamete moves into the pollen tube and fuses with the polar nuclei and thus producing a triploid cell.

As, two phenomenon are taking place, the reason it is termed as double fertilisation.
