THE NERVOUS TISSUE

The nervous tissue contains densely packed nerve cells called neurons.

This tissue is present in the brain, spinal cord and sense organs.

Each Neuron is composed of a cell body with a nucleus and cytoplasm, dendrons and a single long part called the axon.

The neurons are specialized for conduction of nerve impulses.

They recieve stimuli from within or outside the body and conduct impulses ( signals ) which travel from one Neuron to another Neuron.
