The main distinction between overlapping and cross-cutting social distinction is that while the former creates a sense in those who belong to a specific cluster or race, it is not in the latter's case that they are discriminated against.

Overlapping and Cross Cutting differences

Overlapping

  1. Once a certain social distinction overlaps different distinction, it is known as a social distinction overlapping.
  2. Overlapping variations are the mixture of 1 or many variations caused by a single main difference.
  3. The racial distinction between dark teeth and fairer teeth is commonly referred to because the[ African-American] in the North American nation becomes a social division as a result of the darker teeth, due to their color, tends to be poor and homeless and rarely faces injustice and discrimination.
  4. Overlapping changes give rise to profound social divisions and tensions.

Cross Cutting

  1. If social variations intersect, it is hard to pitch a cluster of people against an alternative.
  2. It means that a gaggle that shares a standard interest in one issue is likely to have a unique problem on completely different sides. It's easy to accommodate here and no tensions.
  3. Social discrimination in the Netherlands is not overlapped by economic problems in which every Christian community has the same variety of experiences and difficulties. It means that in the European nation they need conflict and it is not in the Netherlands.
  4. It is easier to cope with cross-cutting social variations.
