Solution :
Given rational number 3/8
denominator (q) = 8 = 2³
it is of the form 2^m × 5^n .
Here ,
m = 3 , n = 0
So, 3/8 can be represented as
terminating decimal.
Procedure :
3/8
= 3/2³
Multiplying numerator and denominator
by 5³, we get
= ( 3 × 5³ )/( 2³ × 5³ )
[ To make denominator power of 10 ]
= ( 3 × 125 )/( 2 × 5 )³
= 375/( 10³ )
= 375/1000
= 0.375 ( terminating decimal )
