The main points of difference are as follows :
Bryophyta
- Their main body is gametophyte in nature.
- True vascular system is absent.
- No division of plant body into true root, shoot and leaves can be seen in them.
- Non - vascular plant in nature that is xylem and phloem vessels are absent in them.
- Their sex organs are stalked in nature.
- Rhizoids are present instead of roots.
- Gametophyte stages dominant over sporophyte.
Now let's look towards the pteridophyta :
Pteridophyta
- Main body is sporophytic in nature.
- Here the sporophyte shows no dependence upon the gametophyte hence both are independent of each other.
- True roots, leaves and stem can be seen in them unlike bryophytes.
- Roots are present in them and no rhizoids are found.
- They are true vascular plants main xylem and phloem vessels can be seen in them and conduction is performed through them to the entire plant body.
- They show much higher organised structure in every aspect than that of the bryophytes.
