There were two former Hindu Colleges which later developed into universities :

1.  Hindu College at Varanasi, founded by Annie Besant in 1898 developed into Banaras Hindu University.

2.  Hindu College also known as Presidency College in Kolkata, founded by Raja Rammohan Roy in 1817 developed into Presidency University, Kolkata.
