Hindu muslims living together during Abdul kalams time​

APJ Abdul Kalam mentioned in his story that the place they used to live was a secular place and people belonging to different religions ( hindu and muslim) used to live so close to each other.

If we only talk about APJ Abdul Kalam, so he had friends who belongs to Hindu Brahmin family. Although they belongs to different backgrounds but because of that secular environment, they didn't bothered to live with each other. Moreover, Kalam also didn't like that orthodoxy nature. Her mother used to taught him the teachings of Prophet Muhammad as well as stories from Ramayana and there were a lot of teaching which made him a successful man.
