The 16th century India was conquered by the Mughal Emperors coming down the Asian lands of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The Delhi Sultanate had Islamic rulers as well.
But as far as Islamic-Hindu relationship is concerned, there is no reason to consider that any rift existed between them.
Apart from some dividers and strict ideologists, the interaction between the two was immensely fruitful, as witnessed under the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar.
