Explanation:

The Happy Prince is described as a beautiful statue. The statue was placed on the top of a tall pillar.  He was a statue who gave away his precious gems for the people of his city to live happily. When he was alive, he had not seen the miseries of life.

The Happy Prince tells the swallow about the young & poor playwright who was writing a play sitting in his garret. But it was so cold that he couldn't write anymore as he had no firewood to keep himself warm. Later, the Happy Prince asked the swallow to pick the sapphire from his one eye & give it to the young playwright so that he could buy firewood & finish his play.
