Heaven and Hell’ is the English translation of a book written in Latin, by Swedish scientist and philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg (1688 – 1772).

This book is a detailed account of experience after death or afterlife.

Swedenborg states that love of oneself or of the world leads one to hell and only love of God can take one to heaven. According to him angels are like normal human beings on earth, but they are spiritually enlightened. They lead a life of serving others and enjoy all the physical experiences which humans have on earth.
