His father's birthday approaching near story
Answers
Answer:
ast week my dad turned 60 and he became a senior citizen officially. Born into a poor family and raised in a middle class family, he had never celebrated his birthdays much. So i wanted to do something special for him. Something that could beat the other 59 birthdays.
He lives in my hometown while i live in bangalore. The day before the birthday i told him i won't be able to make it to his birthday as i was moving to a new house and had to pack some stuff. I could sense the sadness in his voice after that.
Surprise 1 - The next morning i left bangalore early and on my way asked my mom what their plan was. She told me they wanted to visit a temple and have breakfast at a certain hotel nearby. I took a taxi to the hotel and waited outside. As they both came in and parked the car, their not-so-jouyous faces became surprised and then happy. Yay!
Surprise 2 - Meanwhile my sister who also lives in bangalore and married, told my dad that her kid isn't well and she could not make it either. My dad believed her and said though he was happy i came, he would have been the happiest if both of us were there. I agreed :)
By evening my sister and nephew reached my hometown and my dad felt ecstatic. My nephew who is 5 yrs old had prepared a birthday card for him too. He said "I can't believe you guys did this. Now my birthday is complete". Yay yay!
Surprise 3 - After the excitement had come down, i suggested we go out for dinner to a fancy restaurant. He reluctantly agreed. What he could not have guessed was that, i had invited all our cousins to the restaurant and had asked them to be ready with a cake as we entered.
Without an iota of doubt in his mind, he casually walked behind me into the restaurant. When he saw everyone already present and smiling at him, he looked at me and was speechless.
He cut the cake and went around thanking everyone. He finally came up to me teary eyed and gave me a hug. It wasn't just a great 60th for him but also a memorable day for both his kids!
