 health minister

Himanta Biswa Sarma

on Saturday said the state's Covid-19 graph is flattening with just about 40% of state's 5006 Covid-19 patients remaining active and being treated in hospitals. He, however, added that a conclusion can be drawn only after the outcome of the ongoing community surveillance.

Till Saturday evening, the number of active cases in the state was 1,792 while 3,202 patients have been discharged so far. Sarma tweeted, "Numbers in the graphic tell the story of tireless work of our doctors and paramedic staff. Over 61% of the total patients are back home. The rest shall soon go back. Our testing continues."

With work, study schedules going awry and anxiety on the rise, those between 25-45 are hit hardest by sleep disorders, say doctors

He said, "Major chunk of our cases are imported from outside the state and in the next few days, the number of people returning will diminish and our quarantine facilities will go towards closure."

Sarma added, "The discharge percentage is over 60% and only 40% are in hospital. Statistically, we are in a comfortable position and the graph is beginning to flatten. But we cannot conclude before confirming the status in the community. The result of our community surveillance programme will tell us the position in the community."

He said 1,000 samples are being tested from the community every day and the number of tests will increase in the coming days.
