Historians divided indian history into ancient, morden, and medieval but it has its own problem periodisation is borrowed from West where the morden period is associated with growth and development and sciences, rationalism ,humanism, logic ,freedom and equality the term medieval is used to describe a society which was not democratic and liberal
However in Indian context, the British period in the history can not be termed as Morden because Indians were denied liberty ,equality and justice .There were no economic development and the Indian industries declined to rapidly. Thus it is appropriate to term it as colonial.
