When I m against, I would say,
1.. History makes no sense for studying. The past events doesn't matter much in our lives now a days. Since we can't change the events which are already passed, discusing about them wastes our productive time. Instead of that, we should do something constructive for our future.
2. Knowing facts and keeping important points in our mind which changed the world, is what history should be. Learning about arguments and knowing the stupidity of few fellows which led big disputes causes a feeling of anger mixed with the feeling of regretion. It moulds our mind to think 'what if this could have happened' rather than thinking 'what if this may/can happen'. (if we think about future)
3. History has no end. It would run till infinity. Time goes on, it leaves it footprint, those footprints, becomes history. As we know, time never stops, so as history is. It too never stops. The more we look back, the more it pulls us. We should keep our mistakes in our mind, rather than seeing back. This goes for our historical problems as well as for our personal problems.
4. History is past, future is yet to come....but we have today. Today, the more practical things we do, the better our future would be.
This answer is based according to my thoughts. If you find it useful let me know.
Hope this helps!!
