Answer:

The textile industry played a major role in industrialization of japan, especially after second World War. Osaka became the leading textile manufacturing center and came to be known as 'Manchester of Japan'. It developed due to several geographical factors-

*Osaka has ideal location for the import of raw materials and the export of finished goods.

*It is located close to coalfields and water power resources .

*River Yodo provides enough water for the mills.

Asian and African countries provided a large market for the finished goods.Osaka depended upon the materials imported from  Egypt,China,USA and India.Thought it is one of the important textile cities in the country,it has been replaced by Iron and Steel,Machinery,Shipbuilding,Automobiles etc Industries.
