While COVID-19 is new, preparing for responses to disasters, including potential epidemics, is not new for health systems like Genesis. Emergency preparedness training is a year-round activity. We treat patients with a variety of infectious diseases on a daily basis. These patients are isolated and receive care from our health care professionals trained in using specialized personal protection equipment (PPE).

We have been carefully following all CDC procedures and protocols and are receiving updates from the Iowa and Illinois public health departments. We have made the necessary preparations to care for COVID-19 patients and all of our patients and to ensure the safety of our employees.
