Jijabai Shahaji Bhosale  was the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.

Explanation:

  • Jijabai was the mother of Shivaji, the most revered and popular medieval Hindu warrior. His mother's life, Jijabai, was nothing less inspirational or sacred and takes a pride in our culture. Many Hindu leaders in the Region served under the Nizam during those days. They had small armies themselves and they got lands, high places and ranks under the Nizam
  • Jijabai became deeply disturbed. She was also upset that her father & husband, , worked under Muslim sultans, who she saw as corruptors. She didn't care about the money this service could offered. It was freedom that she loved
  • She was angry with men, whose wives, children and country and religion they were incapable of protecting. She longed for her son who could be part of a generation that she dreamed of. In the company of experienced diplomats & politicians she studied the complex political problems of the nation. She could see in the once wealthy land people fall into poverty and see the culture that she so loved was disintegrating
  • After her father was beheaded and her family slaughtered by the Mughals, the fiery "spirit" of Jijabai had been inflamed. In the following time, entire Marathas villages were washed away. Jijabai herself, as a bargaining chip, once was abducted. That was the moment she lived in. But that did not scare her and it only reinforced her resolve and determination that an "independent protector" of the Hindus was desperately required. With a liberation passion poured into him, she raised her son up.
  • jiajabai and Shivaji lived in Pune, under Dadaji Kondev 's protection. Jijabai was one of Pune 's main adminstrators. She had great authority, education, and ability. When Jijabhai and Shivjai came to Pune, it was a small town ransacked by Nizam, Adil Shah and the Moghuls in a row.. Each and every Hindu shrine had been smashed. But with Jijabai 's help Pune soon flourished. Jijabai repaired the shrines, settled conflicts and delivered justice on several occasions. Much of Shivaji 's teaching was her responsibility. She got him to learn the Mahabharata and the Ramayana lessons in detail. She made him learn about the sacred scriptures and arts and the political situations in the country.
  • When her husband married second time and spent most time with his new wife and son it had quite an effect on Jijabai. However, Jijabai did not grieve, & in admistration and long periods of prayer and reflection, occupied herself, bringing up Shivaji. In the Hindu society, Jijabai also paved way for "social reforms" . Many people at the time were against this change, a stance that still remains to a degree. But Jijabai saw that after Hindus developed a system that would allow the people to leave the Hindu fold but not join it which  undermined the Hindu community. Though initially people resented this reform, soon she was able to convince them
  • When Shivaji first conquered a large fort at the age of 16, Jijabai was overjoyed. When Afzal Khan, the Bijapur generale arrived early in his career with a big army to crush Shivaji, Shivaji had turned to his mother, who had told him to face up to this danger resolutely, as opposed to others. Shivaji 's army was small in comparison, but worsted Afzal Khan 's army by biding his time & adopting striking guerrilla techniques. Afzal Khan tried to kill Shivaji when he was at a private meeting, however Afzal Khan ended being dead. This episode greatly enhanced the prestige of Shivaji.
  • In the year 1674, Shivaji held a huge ceremony, wherehe had declared himself an "independent ruler". Jijabai was present at the ceremony. She was overwhelmed &  finally was content that her dreams of liberty had come true. within few days after Shivaji's coronation Jijabhai died
