It is true that democracy is the best way to fight for recognition and reconciliation of social diversity. In democracy, political expression of social division is quite normal and healthy. India, Belgium and Yugoslavia are examples where social diversities have been accommodated in a very positive manner.
Reservation of seats in the Legislatures and government service for the people belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) offers such an example.
