Long answer: It depends on how you think of it. I think he was an unbelievably smart, charismatic man who believed he was undoubtedly right and acted upon these beliefs. I also believe he was a brilliant political leader and with that manipulative and cunning.
It's not really possible for a person to be good or bad, black or white. These are absolute, a person can not be absolute. The human race is too complex to be summed up into being one thing.
You can look at it both ways in his opinion. The Jews were inferior beings. I believe sub-human is the word he used, hardly worth being alive. Similar to the way you would feel about a particularly despicable criminal perhaps. If u remember correctly he also blamed them for numerous problems, I believe in his own way he wanted to fix these problems. Also Hitler blamed them for Germany's loss in WW1.anti semitism which was pretty popular back then, in fact most of Europe believed Jews were communists.
The point is he had justifiable reasons perhaps only to him. He has done a lot of good things. Most people overlook this. The point I'm trying to make is no one is good or bad, it's all a matter of perspective. No one sets out to be evil, they merely have an opposing opinion.
Short answer: Neither or both. He, like most people was a man who believed he was right. To some he was good and to some he was bad.
I apologise for any spelling or grammar errors.
