HIV-AIDS is transmitted through the following ways:
1) Sexual contact: HIV can be transmitted from an infected person to a normal person through sexual intercourse.
2) Using infected needles: Using shared, unsterile needles and syringes carries a high risk of HIV transmission.
3) From infected mother to child during pregnancy.
4) Transfusion of contaminated blood and blood products. Also, organ transplants from infected individuals.
Spread of HIV AIDS can be prevented by avoiding all the above routes of transmission. People should be made aware of the routes of transmission and avoid all these. Apart from that regular medical check-ups are necessary. Infected pregnant ladies should be tested and treated accordingly so that the spread of infection to the child can be prevented
