- Apomixis is a type of asexual reproduction which occurs without fertilization
- It is present in plants.
- Apomixis is a type of asexual reproductionthat mimics sexual reproduction, i.e. in which seeds are produced without fertilisation. Here, the embryos can develop directly from the nucellus, int“guments, synergid or egg of a diploid embryo sac.
Apomictic parthenogenesis is an example of apomixis which doesn't involve meiosis. In this, the egg cell reproduces with the help of mitosis and without fertilization, it grows into an embryo.
