when the resistors are in series then we can find equivalent resistor by adding them simply

proof of the above statement

as we know ,in series electric current us same in all the resistors.

so

IR=IR1+IR2+IR3+..........

IR=I(R1+R2+R3+........)

R=R1+R2+R3+...
