Usually the collenchyma tissues are mechanical tissues . They are similar to parenchyma except that it is characterized by the deposition of extra cellulose at the corners of the cells . The collenchyma cells are elongated in shape . Generally , intercellular spaces are absent . Some collenchyma cells also contain chloroplasts .
