Osmoconformers match their body osmolarity to their environment actively or passively. ... Osmoregulators actively control salt concentrations despite the salt concentrations in the environment.

An example is freshwater fish. Some fish have evolved osmoregulatory mechanisms to survive in all kinds of aquatic environments.

osmoconformers :

✴ These are the animals that do not actively control the osmotic concentration of their body fluids..

✴They rather change the osmolarity of body fluids according to the osmolarity of surrounding medium..

Example : HAG FISH..

Osmoregulators :

✴These animals maintain the internal osmolarity. different from the surrounding medium in which they live.

✴They maintain the composition of body fluids within a narrow osmotic range.

Example : fresh water fishes
