i) First, let me tell you that It isn't good to call Harmandir Sahib, Golden Temple!

ii) Perfect Name = Harmandir Sahib Or Shri Darbaar Sahib!

iii) It is because we all visit our Lord's Temple to worship. Harmandir Sahib - This name clarifies that It Is The Temple Of God!

iv) Hari - Lord, Mandir - Temple

v) If you address This Temple as Golden Temple, it means that you are disrespecting the Holiness ( pavitrata ) of This Place!

2•) Now, let's come to your query!

i) History of Harmandir Sahib!

ii) Many from us are familiar to this Temple! A Temple of Sikhs! But, it isn't the thing that it is only for Sikhs! Anyone can visit, worship!

iii) This Temple was built by the Fifth Guru Of Sikhs - Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji!

iv) This Temple was Grounded/Instituted ( Neev Rakhna ) by Fakeer Saai Miaa Meer Ji! ( Muslim )

v) This describes the Holiness! Either it is the Temple Of Sikhs, Yet it was Grounded by a Muslim!

vi) The Gold used in its architecture was donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji!

vii) Finally, This Temple was built!

3•) Then, it was once rebuilt! History ---

i) It was once destroyed when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India!

ii) It was destroyed in a fight between the Soldiers and Sikhs!

iii) Indira Gandhi ordered the soldiers to attack This Temple!

iv) Later, she was punished by the Sikhs! She was killed by the Sikhs!

v) Then, Rajiv Gandhi helped to rebuilt Harmandir Sahib!

i) It is situated in Amritsar, Punjab, India!

i) Following the sayings of Shri Guru Amardas Ji ( Third Guru Of Sikhs ), Shri Guru Ram Das Ji ( Fourth Guru Of Sikhs ) Set up This Holy City!

ii) Earlier, it was named Guru Ka Chak! Then, it was named Ramdaspur! Now, we call this Holy City Amritsar!

History of The Golden Temple :-

1. It is located in Amritsar , Punjab, India.

2. It is the supreme centre of Sikhism

3. It is the holiest gurdwara of Sikhism.

4. It is founded in 1577 by the fourth guru of Sikh , Guru Ram Das. 

5. It is regarded as the abode of God's spiritual attribute.

6. The golden temple means the Temple Of God.

7. Guru Amar Das Ji ordered to  Guru Ram Das (4th guru) ji to create a nectarous tank for the worship place of the Sikh religion. 

8. Guru Ram Das informed to all of his Sikhs to join in the work.

9. when the work was continuous , the hut in which the Guru ji firstly lived was expanded for his residence and now it is come to known as the Guru's Mahal or the Guru's palace.

10. In 1578,  Guru Ram Das ji  excavated a tank, which was came to known as Amritsar or Pool of the Nectar of Immortality.

11. After that, in which city the tank built came to known as Amritsar.
