Hlo guys.......


In the straight chain structure of glucose having four hydroxyl groups in between the the aldehyde and main carbon but only the hydroxyl group present on the second last carbon provide the hydroxyl group for the the hemiacetal formation for the cyclic structure of the glucose .
State why all other three hydroxyl group doesn't take part in the reaction ?​

because after choosing a main functional group we look after a long chain and others will behave as substitute..
