Given Equation is 2x^2 + x + 4 = 0

=  \ \textgreater \  x^2 +  \frac{x}{2} + 2 = 0

= \ \textgreater \  x^2 +  \frac{x}{2} +  \frac{1}{4} -  \frac{1}{4}  + 2 = 0

= \ \textgreater \  (x +  \frac{1}{2} )^2 -  \frac{1}{4} + 2 = 0

= \ \textgreater \  (x +  \frac{1}{2} )^2 = -2 +  \frac{1}{4}

= \ \textgreater \  (x +  \frac{1}{2})^2 =  \frac{-7}{4}

x +  \frac{1}{2} =  \frac{ \sqrt{7} }{2}

Now,

x +  \frac{1}{2} =  \frac{ \sqrt{7} }{2}

x =  \frac{ \sqrt{7} - 1 }{2}

x +  \frac{1}{2} =  \frac{- \sqrt{7} }{2}

x =  \frac{- \sqrt{7} - 1 }{2}

Hope this helps!
