Answer 1 :

The uppermost layer of the earth's crust is mantle . This layer of Earth is very hard and rigid and also has the rock peridotite in it . It extends for 35 km on the continental mass and 5 km in the ocean floors . The mineral constituent of the crust on the continental mass are - silica and alumina and are hence called sial ( si from silica and al from alumina ). The main mineral constituents of the ocean floor are silica and magnesium and are hence called si (si from silica and ma from magnesium) . The crust forms only 1 percent of the volume of the Earth .

Answer 2 :

The process of formation of soil is called as pedogenesis . Soil is formed when rocks disintegrate due to weathering and become smaller and smaller until they turn into a fine layer of powdery soil . Lichens , microorganisms and abiotic factors like sun and rain are some of the factors that affects soul formation .

Answer 3 :

Rain water gathers over the bed rock which is non porous to form the water table .

Answer 4 :

A clay loam texture soil, has nearly equal parts of sand, slit, and clay. These textural seperates result from the weathering process ( a process through which rocks gradually disintegrate into sand ) . Though sand is the highest in this soil .

Answer 5 :

Yes , afforestation can reduce soil erosion because in afforestation more and more trees are added in an ecosystem . As a result when the roots of the trees become big and strong they will hold the soil in ground . This will prevent water ( in plains), snow ( in mountains) or wind ( in deserts ) to take away a part of soil and its nutritional content with it .
