During a thunderstorm if u notice a 3 second delay between the flash of lightening and sound of thunder . what is the approximate distance of thunderstorm from u

Sound travels at about 330-340 m/s which means that in three seconds it will have travelled one km
The light of the flash travels at 300000km /s , so you may say that it reaches you instantaneously

Hey..Here is your answer u r looking for..
t = 3 second
s = 340m\s^2..

s = d\t

340 = d \ 3

d = 340*3

d= 1020m

hence,the approximate distance of thunderstorms from u is 1020m..
