if any number cannot be written in the form of p/q , where p and q are integers and q is not equal to 0. for example 0.101101110 and root 2....

Numbers that cannot be expressed in 'p/q' (where p,q are integers) form are irrational numbers. Their decimal expansions neither terminate nor become periodic.
For eg: pi : Though it is expressed as 22/7 ( approximated value) its a non-terminating decimal.
rt 2, rt3 etc. are other examples.
