Since pressure depends only on the force acting perpendicular to the surface upon which it is applied, only the force component perpendicular to the surface contributes to the pressure exerted by that force on that surface.

The tip of a needle is sharp so that due to its sharp tip, the needle may put the force on a very small area of the cloth producing a large pressure sufficient to pierce the cloth being stitched.

so pressure is inversely proportional to area.

needles are made with sharp points because it's area is very less so if we apply less force it exerts more pressure.
