He did good works like nationalization of industries and collectivisation of farming or collective farming.

He belonged to Socialist party.  He was a senator and cabinet minister for many years.  He  was a true hero in the eyes of poor people and workers. He liberalized policies.  He made education to be tuition-fees-free. So a lot of people enrolled in educational institutes, schools to universities.  He pushed up the health care.  More doctors were encouraged to work in rural areas.  More health centers hospitals were built.  Better medical care was given. Sanitation conditions in the country were improved.
