Explanation:

capillaries are blood vessels present between the cells, connecting arteries and veins. they are really thin and help in diffusion of gases between the cell and itself . it diffuses O2 to the cells and takes back CO2 from the cell... this is its main function.M

  • Only two layers of cells thick, the purpose of capillaries is to play the central role in the circulation, delivering oxygen in the blood to the tissues, and picking up carbon dioxide to be eliminated. They are also the place where nutrients are delivered to feed all of the cells of the body.
  • Capillaries are the smallest of blood vessels. They serve to distribute oxygenated blood from arteries to the tissues of the body and to feed deoxygenated blood from the tissues back into the veins.

They are very narrow blood vessels having a simgle layered wall which forms a network inside body organs. Movement of blood is very slow so as to provide time for exchange of materials. The wall has very fine pores for exchange of substance between blood amd tissue fluid. Some plasma also filteres out blood capillaries to become component of tissue fluid. Extra tissue fluid passes into lymph cappilaries. White blood corpusclses can come out of cappilaries for fighting infections.. The phenomenon is called diapedesis
