Hlw dear my eqution is right or wrong if it is wrong what is the correct equation

There is written
if 8 is added to denominator it becomes 1/4 and if 1 is subtracted to numerator then it becomes 1/3

Hence correct answer is

Let the fraction be x/y
Given,
 \frac{x -1}{y} = \frac{1}{} \\
\frac{x}{y+8} = \frac{1}{4}
this is the answer
