From what I have read in the newspapers and from what I have heard from relations, the big problem in South Africa is the total unreliability of ESKOM (Electricity Supply Commission) which, since the fall of Apartheid, has become riddled with inefficientcy and under-investment.

People in South Africa who rely on their computers for their work, especially ose who use PCs from home are frustrated by the continued “brown-outs” and having to make frequent back-ups to ensure that if there is an unexpected power failure, theat they do not loose too much
