HØLa !!

A wooden block floats in alcohol with 3/8 of it's length above alcohol. If it is made to float in water, what fraction of its length is above water? Density of alcohol is 0.80 gcm-³.

let mass of block be m

X=density of alcohol

Y=density of water

Z=density of substance

Vi=volume inside the solution

then

mg=XVig

ZV=X*3/8*V

Z=0.8*3/8

therefore density of substance is 0.3

now in water

we know that density of water is 1

ZVg=YViG

0.3V=1*Vi

therefore 3/10th part will be inside water
