Given :-

  • A man took a loan from a bank at the rate of 12 % p.a. simple interest.
  • After three years he had to pay Rs. 5400 interest only for the period.

Find :-

  • The principal amount borrowed by him was

Solution :-

~Here, we’re given the time, rate of interest and Simple interest. We need to find the Principal amount which was invested by that man. We can easily find the Principal amount by putting the values in the formula of simple interest ( SI ) .

_____________

As we know that ,

\boxed{\sf{ \bigstar \;\; SI = \dfrac{P \times r \times T}{100}}}

Where,

  • P is the principle amount which we need to find
  • r is the rate of interest [ 12 % ]
  • SI is the simple interest [ Rs. 5400 ]
  • T is time [ 3 years ]

Finding the Principal Amount :-

\sf \implies 5400 = \dfrac{ P \times 12 \times 3 }{100}

\sf \implies 540000 = 12 \times 3 \times P

\sf \implies 540000 = 36 \times P

\sf \implies P = \dfrac{540000}{36}

\sf \implies P = 15,000

Hence,

  • The Principal amount invested was 15,000
