The lesson 'The Necklace' written by Guy De Maupassant is a fictional short story which teaches us the lesson of not having greed. This story revolves around Matilda Loisel. She was a beautiful and gorgeous women but was fairly poor. Thus she was married to an ordinary clerk. She always aspired for a rich lifestyle. She always thought of having rich cuisines in rich dishes. Due to this she always remained sad because she didn't get those things. Her husband knew this. He always tried to keep her wife happy and even he lóved him too much. Once Mr. Loisel got invitation from his higher authority to a Ball Party. He thought of taking Matilda there so that she can be happy. In order to buy an expensive dress for the Ball, Matilda spent the saving of his husband. Then she went to her friend to borrow a necklace for the party. There she selected a diamond necklace to wear. Loisels enjoyed the party a lot and they returned home after the party. When Matilda returned, she found the necklace missing from her neck. She and her husband searched for it everywhere but didn't get it. They thought to replace it buy buying a new one. The one costed them very much which made their savings empty and forced them to take loans. In order to complete loans, Mr. Loisel started working overtime and Matilda did all the household chores by herself and sent off the maids. After some years when Matilda met her friend, all her beauty was gone but her friend was same as she was years ago. Then Matilda got to know from her friend that the real necklace was of artificial material which was very cheap.
