✍️They are spherical \bold{oval \:or \:disc} like in shape.

✍️Each chloroplast is covered by a double membrane.

✍️Outer membrane is \bold{freely \: permeable \: membrane} and \bold{smooth}

✍️Inner membrane is \bold{Selectively \: permeable\: membrane}

✍️Space inside the inner membrane is filled up with a fluid called the \bold{stroma}

✍️ Embedded in the stroma are a number of flat disc like structures placed one above the other forming a \bold{pile}

✍️ Individual discs is called \bold{Thylakoid} and pile is called \bold{grana}

✍️ Several grana are interconnected by means of bridges called \bold{lamellae}

✍️Stroma of chloroplast contains it's own DNA and ribosomes.

✍️So, they are also known as \bold{Semi \: autonomous \: organelles}
