2) s = 9 ; t = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

1) x + y = 14...(i)

x - y = 4...(ii)

Now from i we have

x = 14 - y

We substitute this in (ii)

14 - y - y = 4

-2y = -10

y = 5

Now substitute y in (i)

x + 5 = 14

x = 9

2) s - t = 3...(i)

s/3 + t/2 = 6...(ii)

From (i) we have s = 3 + t

We substitute it in (ii)

(3 + t)/3 + t/2 = 6

2(3 + t) + 3t / 6 = 6

6 + 2t + 3t = 36

5t = 30

t = 6

Now we substitute t in (i)

s - 6 = 3

s = 9
