How they got , K = 5 from evaluating 4k - 2 = 3k + 3 and 15k - 12 = 14k - 7

⇒ 4k - 2 = 3k + 3

On moving the constant to right hand side, the sign changes!

⇒ 4k - 3k = 3 + 2

⇒ k = 5.

(ii)

⇒ 15k - 12 = 14k - 7

⇒ 15k - 14k = -7 + 12

⇒ k = 5.
