HOLA!!!
I have a question, in Chemistry we represent Hydrogen gas as H2 and Oxygen gas as O2 then when we write the formula of water why do we write H2O and not HO ( as valency 2 gets cancel out)???? Explain in easy words.

valency of hydrogen is 1 not 2
hydrogen never found in free state
so it react with other hydrogen for stabling.
That's why we show H2o not HO
may it helps u

Chemical formula of water is H2O basically means that water contains 2 atoms of Hydrogen and 1 atom of Oxygen.
Valency of H atom is 1 and that of O atom is 2 so one atom of oxygen shares its two electrons with two hydrogen atoms to form H2O
2 atoms of H forms one molecule of hydrogen gas, hence H2
2 atoma of O forma one molecule of oxygen, hence O2
Hope it did a little bit help to you
