  2. Gauss's law states that the net flux of an electric field through a closed surface is proportional to the enclosed electric charge. ... The electric flux is defined as the electric field passing through a given area multiplied by the area of the surface in a plane perpendicular to the field.
  3. State and prove Gauss theorem in electrostatics. 1/ε0 times the total charge contained within that surface , i.e., over the whole of the closed surface, q is the algebraic sum of all the charges (i.e., net charge in coulombs) enclosed by surface S.
