Heterospory is the production of spores of two different sizes and sexes by the sporophytes of land plants.

ɪᴛs sɪɢɴɪғɪᴄᴀɴᴄᴇ:-

The phenomenon of heterospory lead to the reduction of gametophyte, in situ germination of spores, retention of megagametophyte in the megasporangia and finally to the seed development.

ᴇxᴀᴍᴘʟᴇs:-

Examples of heterospory are Selaginella, Salvinia and Marsilea, etc.
