Join AC,
Since AB = BC
Angle BCA= angle BAC,
Now in triangle ACE and ADC,
angle x = angle y
AC = AC [common]
angle ECA = angle DAC
So △ACE≅△ADC
and hence AE = CD
Since AB = BC

In the figure,
<ADC = <AEC
AB = BC
Now,
<ADC = <AEC (given)
AB = BC (given)
1/2 AB = 1/2 BC
AD = EC
<DOA = <COE (V. opposite angles)
Therefore, ΔAOD ≈ ΔEOC
Hence, AE = DC (Corresponding sides)
