Answer :

A solar eclipse, well basically occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned on a straight line in three dimensions during a new moon when the Moon is close to its ecliptic plane whereas for the lunar eclipse, a lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly behind Earth and into its shadow. This is only possible when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are exactly or very closely aligned, with Earth between the other two bodies. A lunar eclipse occurs only on the night of a full moon.
