stars twinkle as light from sun and other stars fall on a non luminous star which reflects the light and we apparently think that the stars are twinkling...

stars don't actually twinkle but they appear to be Twinkling due to atmospheric refraction

as many atmospheric layer such as lithosphere,etc are present in the atmosphere

and which causes change in density

hence they appear to be Twinkling
