Aluminothermic reactions :
Aluminothermic reactions are exothermic chemical reactions using aluminium as the reducing agent at high temperature. The process is industrially useful for production of alloys of iron.
Example :
Thermite process is a reduction of metal oxide with highly reactive metal like sodium and aluminium. These reactions are highly exothermic. Iron oxide when reacted with aluminium gives iron and aluminium oxide and large amount of heat which meltsthe metal which is reduced.
Hope it's helps u

Answer:
Hi friends,
Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of aluminium powder and a metal oxide. It produces an aluminothermic reaction known as a thermite reaction.
The reaction of iron (III) oxide and aluminum can be represented by the equation:
Fe2O3 (s) + 2 Al (s) → Al2O3 (s) + 2 Fe (s)
This reaction is known as the “thermite” process, which has been used industrially for welding that is the preparation of metals from their oxides, and the production of incendiary devices. The process is initiated by heat, but then becomes self-sustaining.
